With our words, we bless pages, transform stages,
rock mics...change lives.
For WOW, it's all about the words. We know sometimes the difference between being perceived as a threat to society, or being given automatic social validation as a well-spoken young person, can be as simple knowing which words to use when, and how.
A key element of all WOW workshops is what one of our facilitators likes
to call "slanguage." We listen to what gets said with the homies outside,
and remix it with words more suitable for the adults encountered inside.
We make it fun, we keep it current, and we empower young voices for life.
