1st Annual Stockton Word Feast An Instant Success
WOW. Now that's how you rock National Poetry Month. Over 500 visitors came to celebrate literacy and the magic of words as With Our Words and the Haggin Museum teamed up Saturday, April 7th from 12pm to 5pm to bring the City of Stockton its first-ever poetry festival. Dubbed "Word Feast," the day-long event transformed three floors of the Haggin Museum into literary salons with guest readings and presentations; hands-on literacy laboratories with activities for young children; and an all-star community open mic. WOW's popular Hip Hop You Don't Stop Reading project was also on hand, giving away over 500 books to jump-start the personal libraries of Stockton's young readers.
